Callen’s Values

Sustainability

When the earth hurts, we hurt. Similarly, when we heal, so does the earth. Callen’s work is one-of-a-kind or small production, with a focus on re-used materials, organic textiles, and natural inks. Woven throughout her work are healing themes; connection between people, relationships between people and the land, natural folk medicines, and strong individuals who inspire us to live our best lives.

Inclusivity

Centered around animism, Callen’s work celebrates the aliveness of all beings - whether it is humans of any stripe, bodies of water, rocks, plants, fungi, or objects… All beings are important and worthy of love, compassion, and inclusion.

Slowness

Slowness is about having down time, with nothing scheduled, and just resting. It’s about balancing your nervous system so that you can show up in the world as your most aligned self. Slowness is an antidote to hustle culture and productivity over quality and connection. It provides a reset, wherein you can truly enjoy how far you’ve come, and celebrate what is.

I'm a multidisciplinary artist creating slow art to support others in their healing journeys. We're living in a world that asks a lot from us, to constantly produce, connect with others, do, do do...

For many of us, it's too much. Our nervous systems ask for a slower, gentler pace. They ask us for time to truly connect to ourselves, nature, and our community. Time to meander, putter, and simply be. For the last 10 years I have been on a healing journey of my own; fatigue, food sensitivies, insomnia, and anxiety being among some of my symptoms. Art is a way I connect with and accept these and other life challenges, as well as a way to connect to others and build community.

I love weaving folklore, healing plant symbolism, strong female and gender diverse figures into my artwork. My art imagines a way towards a calmer, more loving future.

Thank you for joining me here
